Dreamland

“Dreamland” is a collection of 6” x 6” gouache on board paintings created as a series of portraits. The figures in these paintings are ghost-like figures that drift in a state of contemplation of our world. The paintings can be viewed as individual portraits, but collectively the paintings build a narrative of "femaleness".

Creating a dream-like narration, the paintings construct an archive of characters and moments. The themes within the series include identity, community, fear, and loss. These concepts are central to women’s lives and assert a vision of femaleness that transcends patriarchal storylines and history.
